New ADULT Bungee-Assisted Dance Course!

That’s right! You read correctly! We have put a new Adult Bungee-Asssisted Dance Course into our regular classes and course timetable here at The Higher Space and we couldn’t be more excited!

What is it?!

This class isn’t just for dancers – it’s a great cardiovascular workout and muscle toner, focusing on strengthening and stabilizing the core of your body, all with an element of flight. A great alternative to regular aerobics!

It involves wearing a hip harness that connects to the bungee at the back of your body, so you can move with no restrictions in front of you. The bungee is tensioned so that you move and dance dynamically around the floor whilst experimenting in lift, flight, bounce and power. We explore a variety of skills throughout our lessons, from large, weighted movements to more subtle rotations, inversions and tips. You are fully in control of placing your feet back on the ground whenever you choose, and the more energy you give to the bungee, the more it gives you back in return.

Thursdays at THS – 7-9pm

A six week course costs £150 in full, or you can take advantage of our Early Bird Discount and pay just £125 if booked and paid before 26th August 2016.

This course runs for 6 weeks beginning Thursday 15th September 2016. BOOKING ESSENTIAL.

Interested? Booking is simple… Just use our handy ONLINE BOOKING FORM and we will get the process rolling for you!

We look forward to getting you flying at The Higher Space!

Jam packed and loving it!

Hidey ho friends, hope your week is going well!

There’s loads to cover today, so I’m going to get stuck in straight away- seriously, doing any more than we’ve done this week isn’t humanly possible, it’s crazy!

Tech rehearsals ahoy!

Tech rehearsals ahoy!

Yesterday the team and our Edge Hill students were down at The Quays Theatre at The Lowry, for the tech rehearsal for that new show I’ve been telling you about.  It’s all going really well, with some beautiful imagery and sensational aerial set ups, which is sure to leave the audience jaw-dropped!  Today is the dress rehearsal, and tonight is the premiere- it’s so exciting!!  The event itself is called Exclaim!, and if you’re planning on heading down there for the shindig, the piece we’re premiering is called Hold That Thought.  I’ve been watching the rehearsal vids and believe me when I say, it’s going to be a fantastic show!  If you’re in the area, I’d highly recommend heading down to take a gander.  If you can’t make it tonight, fear not, for I’ll be posting pics for you next week- but it’s not the same as being there, am I right?

Jamie: Off to the Czech Republic now you say? Ugh, this job is such hard work!

A bit of bungee to brighten your Mondee!

Afternoon all, hope you’re well!

It’s been a bit crazy lately with the team off in Amman for the International Dance Festival, and all the activities going on at the Higher Space, but here I am again, to relay the madness as it happens for your reading pleasure!

Dani wondered whether that second Martini at lunch had been a toony bit tee much.

First off, I’ve got to talk about the fantastic weekend of bungee-assisted dance we’ve just had!  It was the first of our new-look workshops which have had a revamp with all your wonderful feedback in mind.  We’re blessed to have a hard core group of regulars alongside a steady stream of inquisitive newcomers, who are always willing to chat about what they love about our bungee goodness, and what they’d like to do more of- and we’re always ready to listen!  If you want to take a run at one of our new and improved workshops, you should check out our diary page for more coming up- the next one is scheduled for June 9th and will be a suspension workshop…and yes, its going to be as awesome as it sounds!!  Led by our very own Artistic Director Wendy Hesketh-Ogilvie and Twirly Extraordinary Daniella B Larsen, it’s going to be a delicious day full of gliding and flying, open to all levels.  Even if you’re not a dancer you’ll feel as light as a feather and free as a bird!

Day One of “As the World Tipped”!

The Mighty, Bootle

Well the first day of rehearsals are upon us and we’re immediately off to a flying start!
The team started the day with a quick meeting to get reacquainted with all the members and to clarify the roles each person was to undertake. Once everyone had finished their breakfast and all the gear was packed up safely, it was off to the Mighty in Bootle for the technical team to set up the space ready for when the wall, a huge 10m by 10m perforated steel floating stage suspended by crane, arrived later today.
